Permanent Protection of Kerckhoff Lake Planning Unit (Lands to be retained by PG&E) with a Conservation Easement

 

On October 16, 2018, a conservation easement was recorded to protect the Beneficial Public Values of the watershed lands at the Kerckhoff Lake planning unit. The conservation easement is held by the Sierra Foothill Conservancy.

Retained LCCP

Final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan- Lands to be retained by PG&E at Kerckhoff Lake 

 

At its January 25, 2017 meeting, the board adopted a final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan for lands to be retained by PG&E at the Kerckhoff Lake planning unit, located in Fresno and Madera Counties.

The final LCCP describes how the proposed transaction and related agrements confirm to and fulfill all requirements of the 2003 Settlement Agreement and Stipulation.

The draft LCCP was made available for a public review and comment period from October 19, 2016 to November 17, 2016.

Recommendations

 

At its March 13, 2013 meeting, the Stewardship Council Board of Directors recommended that PG&E retain all of the lands (approximately 325 acres) in the Kerckhoff planning unit, located in Madera County.

At its November 14, 2013 meeting, the board recommended Sierra Foothill Conservany as the prospective conservation easement holder on the property.

Land Stewardship Proposal

 

On July 8, 2011, the Stewardship Council received one land stewardship proposals from the North Fork Mono Tribe interested in being considered for a donation of fee title to certain lands located within the Kerckhoff Lake planning unit. The proposal, including information and statements contained in the proposal, was prepared and submitted by the North Fork Mono Tribe. The proposal is presented 'as is' and the Stewardship Council does not make any assertion regarding the accuracy or completeness of information presented, nor do the proposals necessarily reflect the views of the Stewardship Council. The proposal will be reviewed and considered prior to any recommendation by the Stewardship Council for a donation of fee title to lands within the Kerckhoff Lake planning unit.

Please note that the Land Stewardship Proposal submitted by the North Fork Mono Tribe linked below concerns three planning units within the Willow Creek watershed area including the Kerckhoff Lake planning unit.

Public Information Meeting

 

The primary purpose of this meeting was to solicit public input on the development of the Land Conservation and Conveyance Plans (LCCP) to preserve and enhance the beneficial public values.
